We help make our member companies more successful and sustainable by focusing on the maximum positive impact for shareholders, the environment and societies.

Our member companies come from all business sectors and all major economies, representing a combined revenue of more than USD $8.5 trillion and with 19 million employees.

Our Global Network of almost 70 national business councils gives our members unparalleled reach across the globe. WBCSD is uniquely positioned to work with member companies along and across value chains to deliver high-impact business solutions to the most challenging sustainability issues.

Make more sustainable business more successful

Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world by making more sustainable businesses more successful. Our vision is to create a world where more than 9 billion people are all living well and within the boundaries of our planet, by 2050.

Vision 2050, released in 2010, explored what a sustainable world would look like 2050, how such a world could be realized, and the role that business has to play in making that vision a reality. A few years later, Action2020 took that Vision and translated it into a roadmap of necessary business actions and solutions. Learn more about WBCSD's Vision and how we are bringing it up-to-date for the next decade to come.

WBCSD is a unique network where members learn from other leading companies; interact with the strongest partners and gain access to a one-stop shop for tools and expertise to push their sustainability journey forward.

Recognizing the global relevance of India, WBCSD has established a dedicated office and staff team in New Delhi. WBCSD India is an extension of the WBCSD team which provides a platform for WBCSD members to:

  1. work together to scale up business action for India’s sustainable development
  2. highlight the Indian context and Indian business solutions to the global WBCSD membership.

Currently 40 WBCSD member companies work together through WBCSD in India. All the work is aligned with the WBCSD clusters, business solutions and value chain programs.

North America

The WBCSD North America office provides a platform upon which to engage leading North American businesses from a range of sectors in WBCSD initiatives, including innovative and scalable business solutions that address the most pressing social and environmental sustainability challenges.

Drawing on the expertise of North America-headquartered member companies, the office also helps to establish new nodes of sustainability leadership that broaden and deepen WBCSD’s portfolio, bringing new ideas and actionable solutions to member companies around the world.
