There is no feasible pathway to tackle the twin climate and nature crises without halting and reversing tropical deforestation. We cannot afford to have a world that does not protect forests for climate, nature and people. REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation +) is a vital nature-based solution that can provide over 30% of the solution to the climate crisis. The private sector is beginning to invest to protect irreplaceable tropical forests and restore remaining forests, but more action is needed.

There are three approaches for corporates looking to invest in REDD+ (Project-based; Nested; and Jurisdictional). While corporate funding to tackle deforestation has been focused at the project-level, there is increasing interest in the jurisdictional approach (JREDD) – tackling deforestation across whole countries or sub-national jurisdictions. We need all approaches to reach climate and nature goals.

Learn how tropical forest countries generate high-integrity forest credits, how jurisdictional programs can work with projects, as demonstrated by the LEAF Coalition, the vital role and participation of IP&LCs, plus how investment in credits can help both nature and climate strategies.
