Geneva, 11 June 2021: Today twelve leading member companies from the Forest Solutions Group (FSG) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) are joining the rallying call of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world. They mark their support through a commitment to act as responsible stewards of working forests to secure a continuous supply of sustainable materials, while protecting and enhancing the valuable ecosystem services they provide.
This statement of support describes three pillars of action for FSG members:
1) Scaling up an inclusive low carbon circular bioeconomy within planetary boundaries
2) Implementing sustainable forest management practices to conserve and restore ecosystems in working forests
3) Supporting and investing in reforestation and afforestation efforts.
Under each of these pillars, FSG members illustrate the nature of their commitment to the ecosystem restoration agenda through key performance indicators and case studies.
