Powered by WBCSD and supported by 70+ WBCSD business members, The Climate Drive is advancing with new features & expanded content, to further empower & equip businesses, and their supply chain partners on their decarbonization journey

Supply chain decarbonization is critical to get to Net Zero – latest CDP report mentions that corporate supply chain emissions are on average 26 times higher than their operational emissions. But most importantly, engaging, supporting suppliers is a decisive success factor for supply chain climate action as highlighted by the CDP report: suppliers who received support from buyers on setting science-based targets (SBTs) were 2.6 times more likely to set an SBT compared to those without such support.

That’s where The Climate Drive comes in: offering one, open digital platform to equip businesses along their decarbonization journey – at scale.

Launch in 2023 by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), The Climate Drive will release its 2.0 version at COP29, offering a full suite of features & resources to support businesses in their decarbonization journey, including:

  • An Action Recommender enabling users to get customized action plans
  • An Action Library of 100+ decarbonization action & real case studies, including quick wins to get started, with contributions from 40+ businesses, and their suppliers, with support from the Solar Impulse Foundation
  • An updated Net Zero Guidebook, with expert contributions from BCG & The Carbon Trust, to help businesses along the corporate decarbonization journey (e.g., how to set a target, reduce & report),
  • Increased accessibility with new translations coming in: today available in English, Portuguese, Spanish & Turkish, the Net Zero Guidebook will soon be translated in Traditional Chinese & Indonesian, thanks to WBCSD Global Network partners CEBDS, Foretica, BCSD Türkiye, BCSD Taiwan & BCSD Indonesia.
  • A refreshed Readiness Check, built together with Oxford Net Zero, enabling businesses to self-assess their progress against expectations of top Net Zero initiatives & standards.

Moving forward, The Climate Drive will continue to expand its Action Library, with more sector-specific decarbonization levers and grow its community of users and partners, to push adoption of best decarbonization practices into the business value chains.

WBCSD would like to express its gratitude key partners for their support: BCG, The Carbon Trust, The Solar Impulse Foundation, The SME Climate Hub, the Scope 3 Peer Group as well as the 70+ WBCSD business members who joined the initiative & 10+ ecosystem partners already connected to The Climate Drive.
